Who We Help

At Nurses Helping Nurses the central goal is to provide support to healthcare employees and their families in a time of need. Since 2013 we have been able to help several individuals at Rush University Medical Center, but are branching out to all of Chicagoland.  Below are a few of the stories and thank you's received from the NHN recipients through the years.  With your support, we can continue to provide help to individuals!

Thank you from a nurse whose baby needed ECMO:

"I wanted to take the time to thank you for your generous gift to help with medical expenses for out son.  It brought tears to my eyes when I read your letter with the gift.  I am so proud of this committee and appreciate your kindness so much.  Our son came home from the hospital after 6 weeks in the NICU.  He has had a rough start and is progressing well."

"I want to thank everyone for the gift from NHN.  It was such a surprise.  I've discovered with this illness that I am blessed with so many loving friends.  I don't Know if I could have gone through all of this without all the love, prayers, assistance and well wishes from all of you.  Words' don't seem to be adequate to cover the thankfulness.  I love all of you and hope to be back to work soon."

"I received your kind letter and very generous check recently.  I can't tell you how absolutely touched I was by your organization's willingness to do this for me.  It was a complete surprise...and very welcome!  What an amazing organization!  I will indeed use some of the money for medical bills and with much thought have decided to date a portion of St. Baldrick's to "pay it forward".  Again, thank you for your extreme generosity.  Nursing is the best profession in the world...with people like you leading the way."
